Gate Lodge
Fully trained staff provide the support necessary for each and every resident
About us
The Chellun family, who come from a nursing background, own Gate Lodge Care Home. Situated in a conservation area, when the period cottage that is Gate Lodge was purchased in 1984, it was converted carefully, making sure to retain the beautiful period features whilst producing a homely environment. Originally, the Gate House for the stunning Webb Estate, residents come to us from the Croydon, Purley and Sutton areas. Family run, we have a wonderful ambience within the home with everyone knowing everyone else. This results in a home-from-home atmosphere where everyone is free to communicate and form friendships. We involve relatives as much as possible, keeping them informed of their family member’s status.
Accomodation
Our focus is on comfort and convenience, making each resident feel relaxed and secure. Rooms are furnished to a high standard and we actively encourage people to bring with them their personal effects from home, crucial if they are staying with us permanently. This helps make the environment more familiar and aids the settling in process.
Visitors
Visitors are encouraged to attend as often as possible. This can often be the highlight of a resident’s day, particularly if they have been unwell. We also encourage well-behaved pets to visit, understanding that the relationship between people and their pets is vital to their wellbeing. Timings are flexible, avoiding only meal times or doctor’s visits.

The majority of our residents are elderly and we find that serving them smaller meals regularly works well. Each day we provide nutritious fresh food and drinks using seasonal produce. This starts with breakfast between 0830 and 0930 and is followed by morning hot drinks, lunch, afternoon tea, supper and then pre-bedtime snacks. Residents only have to ask for food or drinks between meals and we take care of it. Drinks are also provided throughout the day, ensuring that fluid levels are topped up.
